WEST MILFORD NEWCOMERS CLUB NEWSLETTER

NOVEMBER 2007

NOVEMBER’S MESSAGE: While we are aware of our blessings all year long, this is the month where we take the time to really think about all the reasons we have to be thankful. Those of us in The Highlands are particularly blessed by our beautiful surroundings, the easy access to nature and the wonderful friends to be found here. I know I am grateful for all the incredible women I have met through the Newcomers Club over the years. This Club is truly something to be thankful for!
                         Merrilee McKittrick, Editor

NOVEMBER MEETING: The November meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 13th, at the West Milford Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with social time beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting will beginning at 10 a.m.

Many people today are turning to herbs over traditional medication which sometimes has adverse side effects. Our November guest speaker will be local herbalist, Robin Rose Bennett, of Wisewoman Healing Ways. Robin teaches people how to heal their bodies through using herbal medicines. She comes highly recommended from several of our members for her compassion and wisdom with herbs. Her topic will be Herbs for Colds and Flus and she will be teaching us how to make an herbal cough syrup.

Refreshments will be provided by Elaine Hossfield and Rosemary Martin.

BABYSITTING: On-site babysitting is provided for $5 per family at our meetings. Please pay our treasurer, Diane Brewer, when you come in. Please pack snacks and drinks for your own children and label their belongings, especially if they have their own drinking cup.

RAFFLE:Members are encouraged to bring items to be raffled off each month. You can clear out the clutter from your house and help the Club at the same time. The money earned from these raffles goes into our Club treasury to help defray expenses.

SUNSHINE SQUAD: Thank you to Helen Rezzonico who is now chairing this wonderful club function! The Sunshine Squad helps out members during difficult times by delivering dinners to them after surgery, giving birth or a serious illness. If you are willing to be called on to be of service to your fellow members at such times, please let Helen know.

NEW MEMBERS: We would like to welcome our returning member, Janet Kirk. She will be included in our coming Membership Directory.

HAPPY NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS TO: Maria Eriksson – 11/12, Darlene Kohan – 11/14, Sandy Maciel – 11/24 and Kathy Maguire – 11/17.

BEST WISHES to Kathy Maguire. We wish her a complete and speedy recovery.
