JUNE 2007

PRESIDENT: Merrilee McKittrick

EDITOR: Merrilee McKittrick

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: I hope you all had as much fun as I did this past year! I so enjoyed talking to all of you, getting to know the new members, listening to the interesting speakers and participating in the activities. The Board and Committee Chairmen I worked with were terrific. A special thank you goes to Debra for getting to the meetings early and setting up. I hope you all have made some new friends and enjoyed being part of our extended family. I have every confidence that our Club will continue to be a way to make friends and feel at home in the community. I hope to see you all next year and look forward to my continued involvement in the Club.
                         Merrilee McKittrick, President

JUNE MEETING: Our June meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 12th. We will be meeting at 10 a.m. at Two Pond Farm on Weaver Road in West Milford where we will be treated to a delightful talk and tour by the owner, Allison Hosford. Allison and her farm have recently been featured in a full page article in The Messenger regarding her organic, energy saving operation. Right now, the gardens are half planted and the lambs, pigs and chickens are born. She will give a tour of the gardens, the animals and will also talk about her energy conservation practices (solar electricity – from May through October they pay about $3.85 a month for electricity - and heating with an outside wood burning boiler). The store on the premises is full of eggs and salads. Those of us who have heard Allison talk about her turkey raising operation remember what an interesting and personable speaker she is.

Bring some take-out coffee or whatever you want to drink (I’ll bring the cake) and meet at the picnic tables at Two Pond Farm where we will have a short meeting before Allison begins. There is plenty of parking. This will be our last meeting of the Club year and we will be installing our new board which was elected at the last meeting. The new officers are: President – Blanche DeSimone, Vice President – Kathy Maguire, Treasurer – Diane Brewer and Secretary – Mary Loudin.

In case of rain, we will have the meeting at the West Milford Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall and Allison will come to us.
