WEST MILFORD NEWCOMERS CLUB NEWSLETTER

January 2007

PRESIDENT: Merrilee McKittrick

EDITOR: Merrilee McKittrick

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:  I always look forward to the start of a new year. I think of it as a clean slate and I always expect the best from it. No matter what happened in the preceding year, I’m always optimistic on January 1st. Great things are happening for the Club this year too. We are starting a new evening interest group, our existing groups are going strong and check out who our speaker will be for the January meeting. What a great start that will be to the new year! Hope you will join us in January and get motivated to make this year your best ever.
                         Merrilee McKittrick, President

JANUARY MEETING: Our January meeting will be held Tuesday, January 9th, at the West Milford Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with social time starting at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Babysitting is provided on the premises for $5 per family. Please pack snacks and drinks for your own children.

Having trouble getting started on your New Year’s resolutions? We have a great way for you to jump start your new year! Join motivational speaker, Ed Smith, as he helps us set goals and provides us with the tools to stay on track. He will be speaking on “Motivation: How to Perform at Your Best Even When You Don’t Feel Like It.” His lively, fun talks specialize in quick, easy to understand, action-oriented advice. Ed Smith is author of the book “Sixty Seconds to Success,” a book that deals with taking small steps that end up making a big change in your life. Books will be available after Ed’s presentation. You can check out his website at www.brightmoment.com.

Refreshments will be provided by Elaine Hossfield and Rosemary Martin.

Please remember that if the schools are closed or delay opening, this meeting is cancelled but we will have the meeting on the following Tuesday at the same time and place.

HAPPY JANUARY BIRTHDAYS TO: Blanche DeSimone – 1/18, Pauline Docwra – 1/31, Rosemary Martin – 1/4, Doris Rupp – 1/19, Cyndy Taylor – 1/21 and Sara Van Goor – 1/5.

MEMBER INTERVIEWS: Maria Eriksson came up with the great idea of doing member interviews for the newsletter and has done a fantastic job with it. I know many of you have enjoyed reading about your fellow Club members. She is no longer able to continue doing them so, if anyone would like to take over, here’s your chance to get to know the women of the club better and get a byline in the Newsletter. How can you pass that up? Let Merrilee know if you are interested in taking over this feature.

ACTIVITIES UPDATE:

The first meeting will be at Sophie’s house on Thursday evening, January 25th, at 7:30 p.m. for socializing and discussing plans for coming months. Sophie is thinking of alternating restaurant outings with gatherings at someone’s house (Mount Fuji in February, anyone?). Your ideas for this group are welcome. Please let Sophie know if you will be attending on January 25th. COMPUTER GROUP: Jody Goldenberg. Jody is planning to start this group up again on Tuesday, January 16th, from 10-11 a.m. The topic is still being decided upon. If interested, please contact Jody.
