FEBRUARY MEETING: Our February meeting will be held Tuesday, February 13th, at the West Milford Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with social time starting at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Babysitting is provided on the premises for $5 per family. Please pack snacks and drinks for your own children.

When the weather gets chilly, the tendency is for families and friends to gather together and share their memories. This is what our Newcomers family will be doing at our February meeting. This month we will once again have our “Show and Tell.” Bring in something that tells us about you, something you treasure, something you’ve made or something from your youth. If you did this last year bring in something different. Can’t find anything? Just tell a funny or interesting story of something that made an impression on you. The idea is to share a bit of ourselves so we can know each other better. Our Club is terrific for many reasons but one of them is for the friendships and bonds that are made here. This was our favorite meeting last year. We all left with the “warm fuzzies” as well as sincere admiration for our fellow Club members. Plan to be a part of it!

Refreshments will be provided by Diane Brewer and Karen Lavin.

Please remember that if the schools are closed or delay opening, this meeting is cancelled but we will have the meeting on the following Tuesday at the same time and place.

MEMBER INTERVIEWS: Many members of the club have mentioned how much they enjoyed reading the Member Interviews each month. Maria Eriksson, whose idea this was and who did a great job with it, can no longer continue to do them. If someone would like to take over this newsletter feature, please let Merrilee know. If no one volunteers, the interviews will no longer appear in the newsletters.

ACTIVITIES UPDATE:

  • TRIPS FOR TOTS PLUS OLDER CHILDREN: Erika Crocco has organized a great after school outing. Meet at Frudruckers on Rt. 23 South on Wednesday, February 7th, at 4 p.m. for food and fun. Please let Erika know if you plan to attend so she can have a head count for reserving tables.

  • SOCIAL NIGHT OWLS: For February, this group plans to go to a local restaurant on Thursday evening, February 22nd. Sophie will be in contact with you by e-mail with the final arrangements.

  • WALKING IN WAYWAYANDA: Mary Loudin. This group meets every Monday in Waywayanda State Park, meeting at the parking lot down by the lake at 1 p.m., unless there is inclement weather. Children and dogs are welcome. Park regulations require that dogs be on leashes. You do not have to call Mary if you are walking, just show up by the scheduled time.

  • LET’S DO LUNCH: Merrilee McKittrick. This group so enjoyed their last luncheon at Café, Café 23, that we decided to go there again for our February luncheon. There is such a varied menu that we all have other items that we wanted to try. This group will be meeting on the LAST Wednesday of the month this time, February 28th, meeting at the restaurant at 12:30 p.m. This restaurant serves delicious freshly-made soups and unique wraps, paninis, salads and beverages – all made with an interesting combinations of ingredients. Please let Merrilee know if you are planning to attend.

  • HIKER BABES: Debra Manfredonio. This group will be hiking every Thursday, meeting at 1 p.m., at various levels of difficulty and to different destinations. Contact Debra if you would like to be notified of this group’s plans each week

  • A NOVEL GROUP: Debbie Maynard. The next meeting of this group will be on TUESDAY, February 13th, at 8 p.m. at the home of Carol Smith. They will be discussing “Pretty Birds” by Scott Simon. If you are already a member of this group, please call the hostess if you are NOT attending. Guests trying it out are always welcome.

  • ON-LINE SKYPE BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP: Debbie Maynard will let the Club know by e-mail if and when there will be an On-Line Book Discussion Group meeting this month.

  • MOVIE NIGHT: Maria-Elena Grant. Join your friends for a 7:15 p.m. showing of Dreamgirls on Tuesday evening, February 6th, at the Clearview Cinema in Kinnelon. Plan to meet in the lobby at 7 p.m. Please let Maria-Elena know if you are attending. BREAKFAST BUNCH: Cindy Forrest. This group will be meeting on Thursday, February 22nd, at the Oasis Diner next to Shoprite at 9:45 a.m. You do not have to let Cindy know you are going, just show up for some breakfast and conversation.
