PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:  I will not be able to be with you for our December meeting which is our Holiday Brunch but I am leaving you in the able hands of our First Vice President, Jody. Hope you all have a great time! December’s interest group activities are somewhat limited due to all of our many commitments for that month but we will resume full activity in January. You all have my sincere wishes for a very happy holiday season.

HOLIDAY BRUNCH: Our annual Holiday Brunch will be held at our usual meeting time, Tuesday, December 12th, at the West Milford Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with social time starting at 9:30 a.m. and the festivities beginning at 10 a.m. Babysitting is provided on the premises for $5 per family. Please pack snacks and drinks for your own children.

This is one of our favorite meetings where we have time to eat, chat and play our really fun gift-exchange game. For this game, please bring a wrapped gift worth approximately $10. This item can be pretty, funny, practical or outrageous – anything goes this year!

We will also have a delicious brunch prepared by our volunteers. If you have not already signed up to bring an item but would like to (quiches, casseroles, salads, muffins, side dishes, desserts, etc.), please contact Elainejj Hossfield to let her know what you will be bringing so there will be enough food in each category.

If you are planning to participate in our home-made cookie exchange, please bring 6 dozen of one type of cookie divided into 12 zip-lock bags with 6 cookies in each. You will end up with a wonder full assortment of cookies to take home. Only those bringing cookies collect cookies, so you must sign up specifically for this exchange by contacting Jody Goldenberg.

We look forward to seeing you at this extra special gathering. Join the fun – the more the merrier.

Please remember that if the schools are closed or delay opening, this meeting is cancelled but we will have the meeting on the following Tuesday at the same time and place.

NEW MEMBERS: We would like to welcome our new member, Sara Van Goor, whose information is in your Membership Directories. We would also like to welcome two other new members: Pauline Docwra and Judy Mazur. Please add them to your directories.

HAPPY DECEMER BIRTHDAYS TO: Elizabeth Gernhardt – 12/18, Karen Lavin 12/3 and Judy Mazur – 12/16.

ACTIVITIES UPDATE:

  • COMPUTER GROUP: Jody Goldenberg. This group will not resume until January.

  • CHILD’S PLAY PLAYGROUP: Wendy Rosica. Wendy will be sending out an e-mail regarding a play date in December.

  • WALKING IN WAYWAYANDA: Mary Loudin. This group meets every Monday in Waywayanda State Park, meeting at the parking lot down by the lake at 1 p.m., unless there is inclement weather. They will not be meeting on Monday, December 25th or Monday, January 1st. Children and dogs are welcome. Park regulations require that dogs be on leashes. You do not have to call Mary if you are walking, just show up by the scheduled time.

  • LET’S DO LUNCH: Merrilee McKittrick. There is no luncheon scheduled for December but they will resume in January.

  • HIKER BABES: Debra Manfredonio. This group will be hiking every Thursday, meeting at 1 p.m., at various levels of difficulty and to different destinations. Contact Debra if you would like to be notified of this group’s plans each week

  • A NOVEL GROUP: Debbie Maynard. The next meeting of this group will be on Wednesday, December 13th, at 8 p.m. at the home of Debra Manfredonio. They will be discussing “The Last Unicorn” by Peter Beagle. If you are already a member of this group, please call the hostess if you are NOT attending. Guests trying it out are always welcome.

  • ON-LINE SKYPE BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP: The Skypes Book Discussion will take place on Thursday, December 14th, at 8 p.m. Using Skype software, as well a microphone and speakers or headsets with your computer, you can participate in a live discussion of the book with other members. This month they will be discussing “The Last Unicorn.” If you need instructions on how to do this, please contact either Debbie or Jody.

  • BREAKFAST BUNCH: Cindy Forrest. This group will not be meeting in December but will resume in January.

  • SUPPER CLUB: Renee Weiss. This group will not be meeting in December but will resume in January.
