WEST MILFORD NEWCOMERS CLUB NEWSLETTER

APRIL 2008

APRIL'S MESSAGE: It’s hard to believe but this Club year is winding down with only 3 more meetings to go. New officers will be needed for the coming year with the transition taking place at the June meeting. If you are interested in being more involved in the running of the Club, please let someone on the Nominating Committee know. Our Nominating Committee consists of Judy Mazur, Maria-Elena Grant, Jan Braideck, Kathy Mcguire and Mary Loudin. Serving on the Board does not take a great deal of time and the rewards of keeping the Club doing what it does best – providing a way to meet new people and join in on fun activities – are priceless.
                         Merrilee McKittrick, Editor

APRIL MEETING: This meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 8th , at the West Milford Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with social time starting at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Babysitting is provided on the premises for $5 per family. Please pack snacks and drinks for your own children.

Our April guest speaker will be Ted Hajek, a local historian, who has lived in West Milford for 54 years. With little to do beyond hiking in this area at that time, Ted and his friends hiked all over West Milford. He was always intrigued by the ruins left behind. In seeking answers to what these were, he became well versed in West Milford History. We are fortunate that Ted will share some of that history with us at our next meeting. Ted is a contributor to the "Upper Greenwood Lake Ambulance Corps History of West Milford."

Refreshments will be provided by the Club.

CONGRATULATIONS to Pauline Docwra as well as her husband and daughter on becoming American citizens. We are proud to have them as one of us Yanks and they will be a wonderful asset to our country.

CORRECTION: The birthday for our new member, Meredith Conroy, was given incorrectly in last month's newsletter. Her correct birthday is 9/6.
